Detox

What it costs, plainly
Private residential rehab in the UK generally runs from around £3,000 to £10,000 or more for a 28-day programme. The range is wide because clinics differ enormously in staffing, medical cover and accommodation.
Ask what is actually included. Detox medication, therapy hours, medical review and aftercare are sometimes bundled and sometimes not, and a headline figure that excludes them is not comparable to one that does not.
Free treatment exists and is genuinely good in places. Council-funded residential placements also exist, but involve a funding panel and typically take months. All four routes are compared here, with honest timescales.

When residential is worth it
Residential treatment earns its cost in specific circumstances: when home is part of what keeps the drinking going, when outpatient attempts have not held, when detox needs supervision, or when someone simply cannot get any distance from the problem while living inside it.
